Several weeks ago I enlisted participants in a second annual survey about Internet filtering in K-12 schools. Last year I had around 600 participants, and this year over 400. I am working on an article that describes results, and will let people know when it comes out. Right now, I have a lot of information at my wiki. Here is the link: http://forwhomthebelltold.pbwiki.com/Gatekeeper-Tear-Down-These-Walls I purposely made the pages text-heavy in the hopes that some educators could use the information to build cases for more reasonable filtering. I also have four articles about filtering in Multimedia&Internet@School, which are accessible through several databases. Finally, my wonderful colleague, Dr. Holly Weimar, has posted a great PowerPoint via SlideShare. The URL for this is: http://www.slideshare.net/hweimar/mr-gatekeeper-tear-down-those-walls I wish I could say that there has been a great deal of progress since my 2008 survey, but that is not really accurate. There has been some progress, and there are some great things going on with Web 2.0 resources, but far too many students and educators are still without the access they legally should be allowed under CIPA. Thanks to all who helped out by participating in the survey. Keep on keeping on!
