ORIGINAL QUESTION: Other than the Enchanted Learning site, can anyone suggest additional online picture dictionary sites for 1st/2nd grade to use with minimum supervision? I am looking for 5 or less sentences in a definition. I looked in the LM NET archives under online picture dictionary---no leads. I found the Enchanted Learning site using picture dictionary in the lm net archives. Thank you ! Robert Joyce School Librarian/Library Media SPecialist Virginia----Pittsylvania County rajoyce59@veroizon.net ================================================================ I didn't get but one reply ( last one below). Maybe, the word picture dictionary is not a good choice of words to describe what I want. Merriam-Webster Primary Dictionary type site is what I am wanting. The first two are sites I found on my own. I welcome other possible resources. www.wordcentral.com by Merriam-Webster seem to fit my needs until I find another web site. also : http://www.learnersdictionary.com/ American English Dictionary for ESL, EFL, and TOEFL Students ***THIS source requires an account---FREE There are flash cards, "stinky spelling" and a list of http://www.pdictionary.com/english/flashcards.php If you click all words at the bottom of the page, it breaks the words into categories. I am also going to share a portaportal that I developed for grades kindergarten through fifth grade that reinforces every educational concept that is taught in school. They are all interactive games that can be used on a white board, on a computer, by the teachers or students. Feel free to share it with your peers. They are welcome to use it. go to : www.portaportal.com Sign in where it says Guest Access as: llegum and off they go. Have fun playing. I think many of the sites will meet your needs -------------------------------------------------------------------- Please note: All LM_NET postings are protected by copyright law.
