I just added a new title to our Curriculum Materials Library that I wanted to share with you. It is entitled: "Books about the Middle East: Selecting and Using Them with Children and Adolescents" by Tami Craft Al-Hazza and Katherine Toth Bucher. Linworth (2008). This is a wonderful professional title for school librarians, teachers, and those teaching K-12 pre-service teachers at the academic level. The resource provides an overview of the Middle East, as well as providing cultural information to be considered when working with students from the Middle East. The title provides evaluation guidelines for selecting books, review sources of the materials listed, grade level, reading levels, summaries of the books, and ways to integrate those materials into the curriculum. If you have been searching for a resource to provide guidance in selecting these types of materials for your students or faculty, I would most definitely consider adding this title to your professional resources. I look forward to using this resource immediately to add materials to our collection, and I hope that you will find it very useful too!
