There is a young man by the name of Paul Ridley who is rowing the
Atlantic on behalf of cancer research. A teacher at our school has a
personal connection to Paul and wants the world to know about his
"odyssey." Here is information from his blogspot:

=20

Paul Ridley is a 25-year-old resident of Stamford, Connecticut. His
rowing career began at Colgate University and he now trains out of
Norwalk River Rowing Association, in Norwalk, CT. In early 2001 he lost
his mother, Katherine Ridley, to malignant skin cancer. Later that year
his father, Mark Ridley, was diagnosed with prostate cancer, was
successfully treated, and is now cancer-free. Paul is poised to become
the third and youngest American to row any ocean solo and unsupported,
and is rowing in support of research at Yale Cancer Center. He can be
reached by e-mail at paul@rowforhope.com.

Hi all,

I thought some of you might need a good laugh today...

One of the first grade classes at my school is doing research on
animals. I
just had a young lady come in and ask for a book about, "big long mama
snakes with lots of polka dots." I'm still not sure what kind of snake
she
was looking for, but she seemed happy with a book about garter snakes
that I
had.

Have a wonderful day!

Dear 'Netters,

Do you have a barcode scanner you love/hate?
A non-profit organization is in the market for one that works well and is

Can you recommend/warn against any particular brand or model?
Do you have a favorite source for purchasing barcode scanners?
Thank you on behalf of the Live Oak County (Texas) Child Welfare Board!
