Dear Great, Wise and Patient Ones: It's the end of 3rd quarter and 240 students have overdue books or owe library fines. I am restricting those students use of the library for any reason. My questions are these: How closely are you all adhering to FERPA guidelines? Do you keep a list of the patrons with overdues on you desk? By name, by patron number? Do you give a list of those with overdues to your teachers? Do you tell patrons they have overdues in front of others? Do you print and hand out individual notices for overdues? Do you withhold grade cards or any privileges from students with overdues? If so, what privileges? Do mail overdue notices home to parents? If so, are you elementary or secondary? Do you call parents about overdues? Thanks in advance. -- Kay Goss Mansfield Secondary Library 316 West Ohio Ave. Mansfield, Mo. 65704 417-924-3236 Ext. 311 goss.kay@gmail.com "The person, be it gentleman or lady, who has not pleasure in a good novel, must be intolerably stupid."
