[LM_NET] TAR: Elem to MS Reading/Writing Help

I thought I would tap the collective brain for resources...

I have a parent who has a child who is finishing 5th grade and excited about
entering 6th grade - but is nowhere near grade level.  The child is going to
be entering a private school for middle school and the parent was hoping to
send her to Sylvan Learning Centers for tutoring, but was downsized at work
and can't swing the $360 per month (!) bill.  Parent is asking (a) if I can
get the same curriculum materials as Sylvan and/or (b) for help finding a
book or two that has been shown to help with readin and writing skills.  She
is sill spelling phonetically and has a difficult time decoding.
