We have several copies of Cut, by Patricia McCormick. We also have the audio book. It is very popular at my school. Unfortunately, it is relevant here. All the suggestions were very helpful. I was amazed at how many of you took the time to write and give these to me. The recommendations included: Gale Literature Resource Center-highly authoritative and reference-based on their materials in hardcopy, Bloom's Literary Criticism Online from Facts on File-students like the images, videos, and timelines, Literary Reference Center from EBSCO-good for authors, Magill on Literature-digitalized Masterplots and Critical Review, JSTOR-archived academic journals, and Questia. I was also contacted at work by sales reps for some of these databases offering free trials. I made my final decision based on teacher recommendations in my building and price. I'd be happy to share my choice offline with anyone interested. Our district replaced our badly stained carpet (after 14 years) and advised me that I was not to allow any drinks in there, especially coffee and hot chocolate. Our library gets a LOT of traffic - especially during lunch - and I love that it's considered the chill place to be, BUT I am sick of being a drink gestapo! I did make an executive decision to allow water bottles, as they aren't going to stain the carpet and are unlikely to spill if they remain capped. All my nagging feels like it's for naught - the district office and others use our library as a meeting room when school isn't in session and there have been LOTS of drinks spilled, as I think users ignore the many No Food or Drinks allowed signs. My year-old carpet has giant stains all over it! How do those of you who permit drinks handle the spills? Do you require lidded & capped drinks? What about cans? Thank you to the many of you who told their own stories about how important the series was to them. It is obvious that many of us have fond memories of the series. Following is a summary for those who asked for a hit. About 3/4 said I should keep them or replace. Many suggested I promote them one more time. The remainder 1/4 suggested I toss. Decision: I am going to push them a bit with my 3 & 4th and see what happens. If there is any interest I will replace.
