Hi friends, I received the following email from one of our district secretaries, and I'm coming to you for advice. The yearbook in question does have a copyright symbol on the title page, for whatever that's worth. (our superintendent) received a phone call from a parent whose son graduated in 1989. He is in the military and with relocations has lost his high school yearbook. He really wants a copy of the book back, however there are no extra books anywhere as Mom has already called and checked. Mom is wanting to borrow the 1989 yearbook from your library and take it to OPI to have it copied for him. OPI will only do that if we sign a statement releasing them from any penalties regarding copyright issues. Question: Is this yearbook subject to copyright laws since it was published by the high school? According to the mother who contacted Jostens who printed the book, the district holds the copyright on the book, not them (Jostens). Anybody have any ideas on this? Thanks for any advice you can give me, Emily Mulch, librarian Great Bend High School Great Bend, KS Emily, the Library Goddess It's great to be a Great Bend High Panther! -------------------------------------------------------------------- Please note: All LM_NET postings are protected by copyright law.
