Thank you to all my respondees! My query about a duck or goose that finds a round object and tries to hatch it, only to find out is a ball is "Duck and Goose" by Tad Hills. Still hoping for an answer to the child finds magic lanter, gets three wishes and always make his third wish- ten more wishes- thanks to everyone who took the time to answer.
