Thanks for all your help with my Bill Peet problem. Most people suggested
doing an author talk based on his autobiography and emphasizing his work
for Disney. The Disney movie Ben and Me is one that he drew characters
for; Sword in the stone is another.  The following books were the ones
suggested as good ones to read aloud or use to booktalk. It was also
recommended to pitch these to 4th or 5th graders due to the length and
complexity of the stories. Also recommended was the website:

saving it from pirates

3 Whingdingdilly – read without showing the character – let kids draw what
they think it looks like

1 Bluford the Little Bighorn – self acceptance

1 Jethro and Joel Were a Troll

1 Kweeks of Kookatumdee

1 Gnats of Knotty Pine

1 Zella Zack and Zodiac – for the letter Z alliteration

4 Chester the Worldly Pig – mapping; prediction of how he will get out of
trouble

3 Farewell to Shady Glade

1 Spooky Tail  of Prewitt Peacock – compare to the Ugly Duckling

1 Encore for Eleanor – use before a zoo or circus visit
