Hello all, We have built a new PreK-5 library, to open next year. I am moving along nicely (I think) but here's my latest question. My principal wants only laptops. I am delighted to have a laptop cart (or two or three...) but I have been envisioning a dedicated space with desktop computers for quick catalog searching - mainly because I think desktops are more reliable. We have Mac laptop carts in other areas of the school and there always seems to be something wrong with at least one computer in the cart. In addition, they don't hold a charge for long, especially at the end of the day. Is there some harm in dedicating space for about 8 desktops? Should I be more flexible and follow the money here? He is telling me I'm too "old technology" but I don't want to be in a situation of having wireless networks down or computers not charged or frequently broken and not have kids/parents be able to access the catalog and such. We do have an attached computer lab, but that's for the computer teacher and for others to sign out. I'd welcome your thoughts, off-list.
