On another listserv that I participate in the question has come up about students and teachers bringing in their own comptuers and internet access. This statement was posted and I was wondinering if the experts out there know whether this is true? "Side Note on the whole CIPA thing...I am not sure how it works legally, but if a kid is in your building and does something in appropriate on a computer (for example...say they send a hate mail or threat to as staff member from their iPhone which is not connected to a school system, the school is still responsible for this because the action took place within the school). " Quote from a Tech Reading through the CIPPA I could not find anything that exactly addressed student and particularly teachers (adults) bringing in their own laptops equipped to access the internet into a school.
