Swear to Howdy by Wendelin Van Draanen.  It is a very good book, and now that I am 
reminded of course I liked it because it's by Van Draanen.  I love so many of her 
books.

Subject: TARGET: Do you know this book?

I am trying to remember the title and/or author of a book that was published in 
2004 or 2005.  It was a terrific "boy" book, and we considered it for the 
Oklahoma Children's Sequoyah book masterlist.  It was about two boys who are 
wonderful friends, and do all kinds of great boy things together.  I died laughing 
at the scene where they go skinny dipping in a local swimmin' hole and the rookie 
dipper gets a nibble "down there" by a little fish.  The boys are involved in a 
practical joke gone wrong that causes the death of the sister of one of them.  The 
book is about redemption and how their friendship suffers during the brother's 
grief.  We did NOT place this good book on our masterlist because of the attempted 
suicide scene.  Although the book had a happy ending it was graphic at points.  
Excellent book, but I can't remember the title.
