Dear Netters,

I want to warn everyone about pre-loaded credit cards. I bought a $600.00 card for
my 15 year old daughter to take to New York City with her. The card said it was
good to use within one hour. If you read the fine print, it can ONLY be used to
make Internet purchases or phone orders; you can't go to a store or restaurant and
purchase anything within an hour. You have to wait 10-14 business days for the
actual card to be mailed to you. So, they make interest on your cash while you wait
for the card.

I bought the card on a Thursday-she was leaving for New York on Monday. I paid an
additional $18.95 to get the actual card over-night mailed to us. Guess what? We
got it Monday afternoon after my daughter's plane left. So, I had to dig up another
$600.00 CASH to send with my daughter to New York.

Not only that, every time you make an ATM withdrawal or even ask for a statement,
there is a fee ranging from $2-$7. If you get a tax refund, don't let the tax
service company put your refund on a pre-paid credit card. You will be charged a
fee each time you use it. If you have college age children, don't send them to
school with one of these cards-each time they order pizza, there is a fee. They'll
be maxed out on the card in no time.

This card was a total scam. Don't be ripped off.

"The best morals kids get from any book is just the capacity to empathize with
other people, to care about the characters and their feelings. So you don't have to
write a preachy book to do that. You just have to make it a fun book with
characters they care about, and they will become better people as a result." -
