Hi All,
I feel so much better knowing I'm not alone in wishing there was much more
custodial help in the library. I'm lucky if I get vacuumed once a month and they
never dust. I do use student help to wash tables and clean computer screens and
keyboards. We're one of the most heavily used areas of school and my windows are
filthy, flat surfaces are covered in fingerprints and there is dust everywhere.
Some rug shampooing and touch up paint would help too. I simply don't have time to
do much about it. - Jeanne

Hmmm...how lucky you are! The dust on the tops of my 42" stacks is so
thick the kids write their names in it...that, and the empty spaces on
any shelves. The floor is vacuumed once or twice a month, if I'm lucky.
They did clean the carpets during Spring Break, but now they won't get
vacuumed until after the end of school in late June.

I don't expect the janitors to dust our books--that's very
time-consuming. (It would be nice, but unexpected). I buy Swiffer
dusters that we use on the tops of books...and on the shelves, and on
the computer desks, and on the Circ Desk...

Gail - Tried to send this to you but it came back as undeliverable.
Hmmmmm.

What do you mean the custodians don't clean? Does the administration
know that?

My library is clean. The custodian vacuums and wipes the tables. He
straightens the furniture.
If anything is dusty or other wise a problem all I have to do is mention
it and it is fixed immediately.
