Don't wish for the janitors to dust the books--they did ours during the summer.
They took every book and the audio/visuals off the shelves, dusted (that was good)
then put the items back on the shelves anyway they wanted. Up-side-down and
backwards in some cases and in the wrong order. It took along time to sort it out.
Stick with the student aides and tell them it is part of their grade.
Just my 2 cents worth.

Hmmm...how lucky you are! The dust on the tops of my 42" stacks is so
thick the kids write their names in it...that, and the empty spaces on
any shelves. The floor is vacuumed once or twice a month, if I'm lucky.
They did clean the carpets during Spring Break, but now they won't get
vacuumed until after the end of school in late June.

I don't expect the janitors to dust our books--that's very
time-consuming. (It would be nice, but unexpected). I buy Swiffer
dusters that we use on the tops of books...and on the shelves, and on
the computer desks, and on the Circ Desk...

Gail - Tried to send this to you but it came back as undeliverable.
Hmmmmm.

What do you mean the custodians don't clean? Does the administration
know that?

My library is clean. The custodian vacuums and wipes the tables. He
straightens the furniture.
If anything is dusty or other wise a problem all I have to do is mention
it and it is fixed immediately.
