I commented earlier about the difficulty of finding non-fiction books published for YA's in the last 2 or 3 years. Many folks suggested Follett Titlewave & Mackin. I have not tried Mackin yet - but I have been using Follett & Wilson. I just noticed another road-block.... Follett: The majority of the books I find are published by Greenhaven press. They are good books - but I have enough viewpoint essays via my Gale databases. Gale appears to be thriving - but I wonder about other publishers. Here is a typical example: Looking for books with the keyword Adoption Limits: 2006-2009 YA Non-fiction Total Titles: 12 Total Unique Titles: 8 (others are alternative formats of the same title) Number only partially referencing adoption: 2 Total from Greenhaven: 6 Total by other companies: 2 (about adopted teens. I am looking for a book about adoption in general) Total of general books about adoption NOT by Greenhaven Press: ZERO I have had very similar results with searches for gun control, homelessness, world hunger, censorship and many more topics. Hmmmmm..... Jacquie "You see, I don't believe that libraries should be drab places where people sit in silence, and that's been the main reason for our policy of employing wild animals as librarians...." (Monty Python) "The Librarian, whose job is to heal ignorance, to keep life safe for poetry and to put knowledge smack dab in the middle of the American way." ~ The Philadelphia Inquirer, 9-20-03 “Education is not about filling a pail, it’s about lighting a fire." ~ William Butler Yeats ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Jacquie Henry, MLS Ruben A.
