In response to Donna's question, there is no problem The law requires that the video be lawfully acquired, and it was. A change in ownership of that copy does not change things. Move forward! -carrie russell ------- Date: Thu, 7 May 2009 14:44:36 -0500 From: Danna DeMars <demarskda@GMAIL.COM> Subject: Copyright question Could you all help me clarify a video usage question? A teacher owns a video that is curriculum related. I would generally say it falls into Fair Use to use it in the classroom. Where I am uncertain is that the teacher did not purchase the video. It was purchased by a school her child attended and then when they no longer used them, they were offered to the parents. Can this video now be considered "owned" by her even though it wasn't purchased by her? It is an original video, not a copy. Thanks for helping me work through this one! -- Danna DeMars, LMS Garrett Elem Hazelwood, MO demarskda@gmail.com -------------------------------------------------------------------- Please note: All LM_NET postings are protected by copyright law.
