[LM_NET] TAR: professional blogs, wikis and nings

Recently, I have discovered that our tech administrators have been
blocking access to professional blogs, wikis and most recently nings.  I
am wondering what kind of access do Library Media Specialists in our
great LM_NET community have to these professional web pages from school?
When I asked for access to these sites I was told that all social
networking was blocked and I would have to check these sites at home.  I
guess I don't mind checking them at home but I also feel like it is
professional censorship.  We have policy in place to deal with teachers
who use these sites inappropriately.  I don't see why professional
collaboration and sharing is discouraged.....
