Dear Colleagues, Our school has traditionally held a "Lunch Bunch" program that offers 4th and 5th grade students the opportunity to read books and then have discussions on them throughout the year and the PTA provides the lunches. Due to moderator burnout and students just not reading the books, the school wants to reinvent themselves. I am looking for ideas that that other schools use for 4th and 5th grade students that involves books and incentives. Battle of the books is an obvious idea, but I need more and many! AR is not an option, as what I am looking for is something that involves just a handful of books and only 4-6 times a year. I'd appreciate hearing from anyone out there who has fun, neat programs at your schools. I will post a Hit when I get several responses.
