Dear Colleagues,
I have received a "challenge" from one of my English teachers that has me
stumped. I am hoping someone out there may be able to help me succeed in
proving librarians can find anything!. I have tried all sources
available to me at this time and can not find this particular article.
Below is the request I received from the teacher. If anyone has access
to Southern Review from 1970, I would deeply appreciate a copy of this
article.
I have a challenge for you. If you succeed, I shall never endeavor to
attempt to procure my dictionaries (our library's Oxford English
Dictionary set) from your care-for the rest of the school year. (we have
24 days left)
In the back of the Tess of the d'Urbervilles book by Hardy is a reference
to an article written.
"Gulliver and Hardy's Tess: Houyhnhnms, Yahoos, and Ambiguities"
Southern Review, VI, New Series (1970) 277-301 Robert B. Heilman.
Do you have access to something like this? We are finishing Tess and
moving into Gulliver's Travels. Needless to say, this article which has
manifested itself, must be a sign from God--a burning bush if you
will--that I must bring this to my class.
