Hello,

I posted this last week, and received no hits; I'm going to try again! Even
if you haven't done such a project, but can suggest Web sites I can direct
students toward, that would be a huge help!

And, late last week I found out that Mackin has a list of recommended titles
for AP US History, as well as for other AP courses. Thanks to Maureen
Sinkler at Mackin for the following information:

Mackin does have an AP U.S.History list on our website if you want to take a
look at it.
Mackin.com <http://www.mackin.com> > Suggested Lists
<http://www.mackin.com/MackinOnline/SuggestedLists.aspx> > College & Career
Resources <http://www.mackin.com/MackinOnline/Suggested_Lists.aspx?ID=1720>
> AP - Advanced Placement > AP U.S. History
Or give our Customer Service department a call and we can customize a list
specific to your needs. It is FREE! No strings attached. [800-245-9540]

Thanks,
~Ann Carstens

(Last week's post): After the Advanced Placement (AP) exams over the next
couple of weeks, I'd like to work with our AP students to show them some of
our online databases and other Web resources they can use. I've gotten a
positive response from the AP Government teacher, whose students will most
likely be taking Advanced Placement United States History (APUSH) next year.
Our APUSH teacher hasn't been very cooperative, so I don't know what the
curriculum involves. In addition to showing them our history database
(ABC-CLIO), EBSCO's Academic Search Premier, and a couple of others, can
anyone recommend Web sites that APUSH students have successfully used for
research?

I was also thinking of doing some kind of Internet & library scavenger hunt
with these students; has anyone done this before? (Our students, even
honors and AP students, are sadly lacking in information-seeking skills.)

And, on the same note: has anyone had success with Mackin or another jobber
creating a list of books to supplement the APUSH curriculum? We have very
little; and again, I haven't been able to connect with the APUSH teacher.

Please send information directly to me; if there is interest, I can post a
hit.
