You are right about them being overworked -- and usually underappreciated. We have a great relationship with our IT folks. We've pretty well established the difference in our positions: They teach navigation and we teach seeking skills. There is much mutual appreciation between the two depts., and in fact, the IT head put this quote up when he created a link to the OPAC and the databases within the internal e-mail system: Librarians are almost always very helpful and often almost absurdly knowledgeable.
