Hi Shelley,

So, can we assume that your school has no other type of internet access that is
available to parent/students at home (i.e., grades from home, any sort of web app
that requires a log-in). I actually went to your school's website and saw that you
do have employee email access from home and an employee log-in. So why are they
concerned about parent/student log-in? That reasoning really doesn't hold up, in
my opinion. I'm sure if he contacts Destiny, they would be more than happy to go
over security with him.

I'd see if your state has library standards that speak about students having access
to the online catalog from home. I know that the California standards do encourage
a web-based catalog that can be accessed from any site.

Just my two cents...

Subject: Tar: Destiny/home access

We will be getting Destiny soon, and our District Tech guy told me that he and the
School Board would make the decision on whether or not people will be able to
access our Destiny from home. He is very, very (did I say VERY) concerned that
having home access would open our District servers to hackers.

Any words of wisdom for me on the issue?

Thanks,
