The U.S. Secretary of Education is inviting people to comment on education reform on the ED.gov blog. The current question is "Many states in America are independently considering adopting internationally-benchmarked, college and career-ready standards. Is raising standards a good idea? How should we go about it?" The very first comment is from an elementary library media specialist. This looks like a great opportunity for others to chime in about the value of school library programs and the AASL Standards for the 21st Century Learner in a venue that will be read by the Secretary of Education and U.S. Department of Education staff.
