Thanks everyone. Most people suggested animoto's education account (I applied just
waiting for the respone) or photostory. I did end up making a slide show in
photostory. It went okay for my first time. Can't wait for the education account to
come back so I can try it in there too!
hits and original post below

Original post:
Is there a free program like animoto that makes movies (pic slide shows) for you. I
ask because animoto will only make a free on up to 30 sec. and I was looking for
longer. I know it does not cost a lot but I figured I would check on free before I
move forward.

As an educator, you are eligible for a free all access pass to animoto and a link
for your students to create free all access accounts. Here is the link:

http://animoto.com/education

click "sign up" and put in your info to change your current account to an educator
account, or create a new educator account.

You can download Photo Story for free...but the music choices are much less
"current." I think it's less complicated than Movie Maker.

Here are some links to instructions:

Note that this is downloaded software. An advantage to Animoto is that it stores
your movies online, avoiding the whole saving-to-disk or flashdrive issue.

Why not check out http://www.go2web20.net/
Most of these websites are web 2.0 and are free, have free options, or are
in beta. You could try looking up video, photos, or slide shows to see what
types of programs they may have you could use.

I am not sure I understand exactly what you are looking for, but you might try
bubbleshare (http://www.bubbleshare.com/) or slide (http://www.slide.com/) You can
upload powerpoints to slide to convert them to a slideshow. Moviemaker is free on
most PC's.

Smilebox.com is free for a 14 day-trial, if you want to look at it. Subscription is
$40 annual.
