After fifteen years at the high school level (ten in the English dept. and five in
the media center) my district has decided to close the middle and high school
media centers and I am going down to the elementary schools. I will be servicing
either two or three elementary schools (my schedule has not yet been determined) so
I will be traveling and have different schools on different days (Grades 1 through
6). I guess I will be spending a lot of time at the public library this summer
catching up on children's books that I haven't read in a long, long while. I want
to feel confident the first few weeks and months so I thought I would ask the
following questions.

If you had to give specific advice about what to do in the beginning weeks of an
elementary media center job what would it be?

What is the one website (besides this wonderful resource, of course) that is your
go-to site to find information about lesson plans or book titles?

I have a feeling I will be having a lot more questions as I venture into my new
role so I hope you don't get sick of me.
