[LM_NET] GEN: Patricia Polacco fans - leveled readers books

We're looking at adding some more "rich vocabulary" picture books to our leveled 
reader collection to offer some age-appropriate/not chapter books selections to use 
for reading instruction.  That is, a picture book is easier to use to challenge 
GOOD READERS without laboring over it for 4 weeks PLUS- many of our novels are more 
middle grade appropriate.
 
So,  if you're familiar with Patricia Polacco's books (just visited her website - I 
only knew a few of the titles!  for shame!) would you care to suggest 3-4 that 
would be particularly interesting to able readers in grades 1-3?   How about ones 
that are better for grades 4-5?
 
Do you have otehr suggestions for other picture book authors whose books would be 
good candidates for the leveled reader use described above?
