Thought you might like this one. I loved Shel Silverstein and always felt
very connected to him. One night I had a spooky experience related to Shel.
When I drove up in the driveway one evening I noticed the light in the attic
on my daughter's room side was on when I came home and I fussed about her
leaving it on. She said she hadn't been in the attic in months. No one had
been in the attic in months and no one had seen the light on in the attic
which is very noticeable from the driveway and I know I would have seen it
right away. Stumped I finally gave up until I heard on the news that Shel
Silverstein had died that day. Cool way to say goodbye.

Like many of you, I have enjoyed Silverstein's books for many years. However
last night I learned something new about him. I was listening to a NY radio
station and after they played the song, Sylvia's Mother, they mentioned that
the song was written by Shel Silverstein in reaction to a conversation he
had with the Mom of an old girlfriend. Sylvia was really leaving to marry
someone else and her Mom didn't want Shel to stop the wedding.

I did some research and learned that Silverstein, a true renaissance man,
also wrote such hits as "A Boy Named Sue" for Johnny Cash and "The Cover of
the Rolling Stone" for Dr. Hook.
