Hi all, I am an elementary librarian, but this isn't necessarily just an
elementary issue.

I am moving from Alexandria on a Mac, where I control the passwords and who
may access programs, to a Windows machine with a district wide password
system. If we use my district login on our librarian station everyone will
have access to my files and email. Not a good idea. My paras will have the
same issue if we use their login for the circulation computers. What do you
do to allow paras and volunteers access to your circulation system without
having to login in and out all of the time? Our network is so slow that to
logout and back in takes five minutes. We don't have time for that.

I am thinking of asking the tech guys to create a login for each of my
elementary libraries' circulation computers. We will have a similar issue
with our OPAC. Since my young students only get about 10 minutes to find and
sign out new books, having them login and out of the computers is a complete
waste of time. We would need to use our entire library time just logging in
and out.

What do you do at your school?

Thanks for any suggestions you can give. Barb
