Is there a point where you don't refund students who have paid for a book that was not returned to the library, only to have it appear a year later? This is my first year and I am at a library that has no policies and did not keep records about students paying for lost books. The student brought back a book and doesn't know how much her mom paid for it. There are two copies of the book on the shelves. Do I give the book back to the student or give her a refund?
