Hi, I am doing Battle of the Books this year for the first time at the elementary school for grades 3-5. One concern and maybe someone can help me is I have selected some books and am trying to get some books that are in 3-5 grade reading levels, but am concerned that some students who are in the third grade will not be able to successfully read at the levels that are in the 5th grade? I would like them to compete against each other. Has anyone had experience with Battle of the Books? I want to select books that are of interest to fifth grade but not to low and too get books that are not too challenging for third graders. Here is my tentative list: BFG Ella Enchanted Love that dog Secret School Water Horse Where the red fern grows Tales of Desperaux What's the big idea, Ben Franklin? Ghosthunters and incredibly revolting shost Monday with a mad genius I thought these were a variety of genres and interests ? any ideas !!?? Thanks!! Nan L.
