We used to subscribe to audible but they have changed their copyright and it is now
a violation of their copyright and acceptable use agreement to use it for a
library. . . just so you know hopefully before you pay for the membership. . . no
longer allowed. Have you looked into overdrive? I didn't see you list it, but it
is aimed at libraries. I don't currently subscribe because our public library does
so I show the students how to use their public library card to download books.

Sorry, I didn't see your original post.

Subject: HIT: Audio book downloads

Thanks to everyone who sent a response about downloading audio books
to ipods. I had several responses that were the same but they did not
work for our situation. We needed access to books on various reading
levels and interest levels.

Some suggested Follett but they have mainly playaways.
itunes was suggested but I could not find many books.
Amazon has the same policy as audible.com, a subsidiary.
librivox.com was suggested but I found that they have mainly classics.
Recorded books is working on audio downloads but isn't there yet.
Public and college libraries were suggested but ones near us did not have any.

We are subscribing to Audible.com with my personal credit card and I
am going to be reimbursed by the school.

Thanks again. It is so nice to have librarians with experience to rely
on for answers.
