How are you doing, friends?

Listen: There's a math teacher I have the pleasure to work with who, a
few years back, began bringing her classes down annually to listen to me
read Poe and then graph the escalating tension in the tale.

She just loves the activity and, this year, following a particularly
successful day, she suggested that we really should collaborate on
something--anything--else. She said she'd love to do something
interesting and fun once a quarter, if possible.

So I need your help. I'd really love to hear any ideas you
have--especially if you know a bit about the typical eighth grade math
curriculum which, I admit, I'm weak on. In fact, I admit being generally
weak in math. (Math's the discipline with all the numbers, right?) The
only germ of an idea I have at this point is possibly tapping Wolfram
Alpha to do some kind of real-world math dealie, and I know they're
doing an education feature right around now, so I'll be looking into
that. In the meantime, I'll be hoping to hear from you with some
math/library alliance success stories.

By the way: This teacher is very fun and pretty adventurous. Anything
with a goofy, hands-on element earns triple bonus points.

Thanks so much,
