I am writing a grant for a professional book study for the staff of my school, an
inner city high school in Chattanooga, TN. About 85% of the students are on
free/reduced lunch, so we are dealing with cultural differences as well as
low-income families. Discipline and attendance problems are rampant. I've looked at
various titles on Amazon, and saw this book: Closing the Poverty and Culture Gap:
Strategies to Reach Every Student by Donna Tileston. It is a farily new book and
there are no reviews or even a description on Amazon.  Are any of you familiar with
this title, and would you recommend it for a staff read?

Other suggestions have been:  How to Reach and Teach All Students (Breaux), A
Framework for Understanding Poverty (Payne), and Results Now (Schmoker).
