Thanks to everyone for their suggestions! My fifth grade girls and I love Small Steps by Peg Kehret. It is about her bout with polio when she was a teenager. Tomie DePaola's various memoir ish ones. ? Knucklehead by Jon Scieszka. Lerner/Carolrhoda does a nice job on that, and on several different reading levels. Also Cavendish did too, but they have been sold. You might also try Capstone and Pebble Press. There a many non-series bios out there by Marrin (Marren); Haskins, and others that have a more literary quality to them. Can't forget Russell Freedman Erica Payne Library Media Specialist Meriwether Lewis Elementary School 1610 Owensville Road Charlottesville, VA 22901 (434) 293-9304 -------------------------------------------------------------------- Please note: All LM_NET postings are protected by copyright law.
