One of my fifth graders, a very good reader, came to my office and asked
for a book that she had seen in her dentist's office. It's a chapter book
about two girls who are close friends. One is very outgoing and "snazzy",
the other is shy and more dependent. When the outgoing friend is diagnosed
with cancer, the shy one finds it very difficult to to become the strong
one that her friend can lean on through her treatment.
Ring a bell for anybody out there? When my student went back to her
dentist's office the book was no longer there.
