Dear Elementary and Middle School People,
Bookstores are stocking for Christmas, so now through October and
early November is the time to look for the BEST OF THIS YEAR'S BOOKS
for kids. I recommend haunting a few bookstores and public libraries
to jot down what's new and exciting.

At the end of November I'll post my TARGET, asking you to list your
favorite books of 2009. I'll publish the HIT in January. My survey
accepts any book in English. It will be announced before the Newbery/
Caldecott medals are awarded. There are usually about 150 titles on
this list -- something for everyone.
