Thanks to those who responded. The answer to the riddle of "What gallops for miles but leaves not a track?" is a freight train, which is pictured in the story. I did see that, but have never heard the term gallop connected with the way a train moves. So I was confused (and am still, I guess). I think students will have a hard time understanding the riddle.
