You never know what your patrons will need in the library.

This week we had a student teacher stop by the library and ask to borrow a chair.
She said that the teacher needed her to get a chair for a mother to use. We told
her to take any chair she needed and offered to help carry, but she just thanked us
and borrowed a chair.

Then the teacher came in and told us that she had asked the student teacher to go
to the library and grab "A Chair for My Mother" -- the picture book. She assumed
that the student teacher was familiar with the book. And we all know what happens
when you assume.

I wish I'd seen the teacher's face when her student teacher showed up with a heavy
wooden chair.
