This is interesting. I tried to put together a book fair for our after school book
club. Rural water area with limited resources and high unemployment/loss of housing
(we are in Michigan!). The rep approved everything over the phone, I was VERY clear
re: group size, programming, etc. I thought that he was coming to have me sign
paperwork and instead told me our group was too small and we wouldn't attract
enough patrons from our area to make it worth while so they wouldn't let us have a
book fair (no one else had one booked when we wanted). Even if the administrators,
teachers and personal friends had been the only ones participating I think that we
could have generated a couple of hundred dollars. We were just trying to figure out
a way to purchase newer, popular titles for book club. Perhaps this is a sign of
the economic hardships for B&N?

oh my goodness! i can't believe stores have said they don't do that!
this is our 3rd of 4th year for having a barnes and noble bookfair for
our school district libraries. a store rep came to one of our monthly
district librarian meetings to talk about how to run the event.

not certain what our percentage is (would guess 10) but we average
around $1500. we have a district of about 5000 students k-12. we send
out information about the event in our district publications plus
information home through students and inform staff via email about the
one day fund raising event. it has been from 9 am to 7 pm but this year
we are working 9 am to 5 pm. we offer gift wrapping for a free will
donation and have guest visits - musicians, santa, magicians, mother
goose, throughout the day.

I am trying to get information about Barnes and Nobles' Bookfair as a
fundraiser.

Has anyone done one?

What is the percentage of the proceeds that the school gets?

How much did you make from the fundraiser? (roughly)

Would you do one again?

I have contacted two different B and N stores multiple times but they
say that they "can't give out that information."
