At long last, the list of titles nominated for YALSA's Best Books for Young Adults
has been updated and is available online at
http://www.ala.org/ala/mgrps/divs/yalsa/booklistsawards/bestbooksya/titlesnominated.cfm

<https://webmail.kcls.org/exchweb/bin/redir.asp?URL=https://webmail.kcls.org/exchweb/bin/redir.asp?URL=http://www.ala.org/ala/mgrps/divs/yalsa/booklistsawards/bestbooksya/titlesnominated.cfm>
. We currently have 107 titles nominated for BBYA as of September 1, 2009.

YALSA's Best Books for Young Adults Committee is currently reading nominations for
what will become YALSA's 2010 BBYA list of recommended reading, which will be
finalized and announced in January 2010. We encourage field nominations for titles
you feel would be a good fit for this list. If you would like to make a field
nomination, please review the selection criteria on the web site and then use the
online form to send YALSA your nomination: www.ala.org/yalsa/booklists/bbya.

Thank you to all who inquired about the lack of updates during July. The BBYA
committee closes nominations at the beginning of June to allow committee members
time to read nominated titles before the ALA annual conference. Because
nominations do not open up again until late July, we have a rather long gap between
updates. Please know that this does not mean the committee is not hard at work
during this time! Committee members have read literally hundreds of books during
the last two months and will continue to do so until ALA's Midwinter meetings.

Please don't hesitate to contact me if you have questions. Thank you for
everything you do to get kids reading!

Summer
