Hi, all! Our 5th grade read "The Boy in the Striped Pajamas" last year, and now our principal is not allowing them to read it again because of the affair mentioned in the book. So, we are on the lookout for a new historical fiction, but one that is not about WWII. We are looking for a book that is a higher reading level, has a teacher's guide, and is about US history from the Ice Age to the Civil War. Any suggestions? So far from my own stacks I have pulled "The Slave Dancer" by Fox and "Johnny Tremain" by Forbes to re-read.
