Dear Friends,

These days it's so important to share good news and wonderful things with each
other and with the children we hope to inspire each day.

This is an announcement for the awards that author, T.A.Barron, gives to young
people each year.

YOUNG HEROES PRIZE 2009 — It’s time to celebrate young heroes! The Gloria
Barron Prize for Young Heroes is currently seeking nominations for its 2010 awards.
The Barron Prize honors young people ages 8 to 18 who have made a significant
positive difference to people and our planet. Each year, ten national winners each
receive $2,500 to support their service work or higher education. Nomination
deadline is April 30. For more information or to nominate, visit
http://www.barronprize.org.

T.A.Barron, young adult author, gives these awards each year to encourage and honor
the amazing young people in our midst. If you haven't heard about this, give
yourself a treat and take a look at barronprize.org. He also has a video, Dream
Big, that will show you some kids who have done some pretty awesome work. You'll
be impressed and it's a great video to show to kids to help them to imagine a
better world. A world in which they can make a huge difference. You can get a
copy of the video from his website, tabarron.com.

Let's show our kids a different picture of the world.

Wishing you wonder,
Barb

I have shared this conversation with your Australian colleagues. One has
suggested that the best model would be to cash in the principal's position
to save the money and let teachers take turns at filling it. Money saved,
teacher librarian retained and student literacy skills go forward not
backward.

If you HAVE to provide something, suggest that.
