Hello All--

I remember a post a while back where someone was asking about possible 
private school vacancies in the Charlotte, NC area. This just came 
across another listserv I belong to and I thought it might be of some 
use to whoever posted the request.

Southern Teachers Agency is assisting Providence Day School in the search
for their next Head Librarian/Upper School Librarian.  Founded in 1970,
Providence Day School is an independent, coeducational college preparatory
school located on a 43.5 acre-campus in southeast Charlotte serving
approximately 1500 students in grades PK through 12.  The only school in
North Carolina to be cited for excellence by the U.S. Department of
Education, the College Board Advanced Placement Program, the National
Council of Teachers of English, and the Tandy Technical Scholars Program,
Providence Day offers a traditional college-preparatory program of studies.

                The Upper School Librarian/Head Librarian will report to the
Upper School Director and will be responsible for the following duties:
scheduling and teaching all Upper School library related classes,
instructing students in how to effectively use the library and its materials
for research and information purposes; documenting the Upper School library
curriculum through the Curriculum Mapping Project; providing individual
assistance to students and faculty as needed; evaluating, selecting,
purchasing and weeding print and non-print material in support of the
academic curriculum; cataloging and classifying all print and non-print
materials to get them ready for processing; developing library programs,
policies and procedures in conjunction with the other librarians; drafting
an annual budget for the library and tracking monies spent; reconciling
monthly credit card statements generated by the library; supervising four
librarians and a library staff of three; and serving as a member of the
Academic Council. In addition to these responsibilities, he or she will
advise a group of 12 students, and perform periodic duty assignments (lunch,
traffic, detention, etc.).

A master?s degree in Library Science and three or more years experience in
the field is preferred. Candidates should have a strong academic background
and technology skills. The candidate should have superb organizational
skills, excellent verbal and written communication skills, and the ability
to work effectively as a team member.
