According to this New York Times article, it appears that it is not actually
a copyright violation, but that booksellers would damage their relationship
with publishers. I think it might also be argued that it is a copyright
violation because  Knopf owns the rights to market the book in the US. I am
not a copyright guru, but I believe it would be OK for individuals to
purchase the book for personal use, but not for resale. Calling Carol
Simpson!
