In my opinion, they are liberal. May I suggest a magazine that I thoroughly enjoy
that is quite neutral in that it offers many points of view on single issues. It is
called The Week. I think your students would enjoy the shorter, more timely
articles. You can check it out at www.theweek.com

Recently I have had two different employees of my district approach me
about my magazine purchases, asking why I only purchase "liberal"
magazines and no "conservative" magazines. The librarian before me
subscribed to "The National Review", "The Weekly Standard" and "The
American Spectator". I cut these from my budget because
1.) The students never picked one up.
2.) Our students have access to databases that include these periodicals
(money issue).

I DO currently subscribe to "Time" and "Newsweek", which have been
described to me as "liberal". Am I totally clueless here? Are "Time"
and "Newsweek" really that liberal that I should look to balance my
magazine collection with conservative magazine titles?

Please respond to me off list. I don't want this to turn into a
political debate. I just want to get a feel for how others out there
handle balancing political views in their High School collection.

Thanks so much and have a great weekend!
