As the months of April, May, and June continue to bring bad news about school librarians being cut from the teaching staffs for the 2010-2011 school year, I wanted to remind each of you to ADD the school districts that are cutting those school librarians to the *Google Maps Project: A Nation Without School Librarians:* http://maps.google.com/maps/ms?ie=UTF8&oe=UTF8&msa=0&msid=117551670433142326244.000482bb91ce51be5802b This will help in providing a visual representation of where those cuts are made and the impact that those decisions (cutting the school librarian from the staff / eliminating the school library budget) will make on the future of our students. If you feel that you do not want to add a "pin" to the map because it shows who added that information, you are welcome to send me the information (including your school's name, city, state, and the information about the number of librarians being cut, the number of students served, etc.) I will add the content to the map on your behalf. While this is a very sad visual display, the interesting thing is that other school librarians in other countries have been asking if I minded if they created their own country's map. Soon, I'm afraid, it will be a world without school librarians. But...don't give up! Keep the Faith! It's not over yet. Thanks again for all your help! ~Shonda -- Shonda Brisco Assistant Professor / Curriculum Materials Librarian Mary L.
