[LM_NET] ELEM: Help With A Book Title

Hello, All.

I have a teacher request that has me stumped. One of our teachers listened to an 
audiobook and wants to find the printed text to share with her class. However, she 
doesn't recall the the title or author of the book..

Here's what she remembers: The book is about a boy who goes to live in an old house 
with two older men. There are lots of weird little creatures in the house that the 
inhabitants don't want anybody to find out about. There is a girl character also 
and someone in the story gets malaria.

Not a whole lot to go on, but I told the teacher that it might ring a bell with 
someone.
