I have a dilemma and maybe some of the guys can put your two cents in, though I'm happy to take thoughts from the gals, too... I sometimes take suggestions from students for periodicals to add to our subscriptions, and a junior boy brought to my attention that we have health magazines that cater more to women, so he suggested I add Men's Health. After doing some very limited research, I came to the conclusion that Men's Fitness might be a better choice for H.S. I'm no prude, but it seems to me that Men's Health deals more with men's sexual health, and therefore might be appealing to older men. Not that teenagers wouldn't be interested in articles telling them how to be sexually attractive to women, etc., but we already have raging hormones to deal with.... Then I discovered a title called Men's Journal, which apparently addresses many things "guy," not limited to health and fitness. When I suggested Men's Fitness to this boy, he was fine with it at first, but now is back with "I think M.H. would be a better choice." This could be because he already gets M.F. at home. If anyone has any advice for me I'm open to suggestions. We are a private school with very mature students, but, hey, boys are still boys! I don't want to deny them reading material of interest, but I want to be sure what I get is appropriate. Email me off list, please, with any comments. Thanks muchly!
